An energetic image for this advertising agency was needed to express its exuberant service to clients while providing a work environment to foster creative and collaborative thinking for employees.  Celebrating the unusual structural bracing and the resultant sloped walls within an existing building, this 8,600 square foot office space displays a unique spatial richness.  Eccentric roof bracing simulating tree branches frames the reception desk and turns an unusable area into a signature entry for the agency.  The sloping walls of the roof were left unaltered, but sheathed with regularly spaced maple plywood panels to establish a controlled, purposeful counter-rhythm to the unconventional roof support.  To maximize ceiling height, the ceiling structure and utilities were left exposed and painted black.  White translucent panels, continuing the rhythm established by the walls, contrast against the ceiling.  Daylight reaches corridors through a combination of translucent and clear glass office walls that mimic the shifting planes of the corridor ceiling.  The bold use of color and the large-scale pattern of modular carpet energize the space, creating a “speedway” utilized by the agency motor scooter during break times.  Through the careful manipulation of color, pattern, and existing elements, a stimulating work environment was achieved on a limited budget
